How to add a photo gallery to WordPress using Modula
Now that you’ve decided to use Modula for your image gallery, it’s time to create a photo gallery on your WordPress website.
Step 1: Install and activate Modula
In this example we are using the Pro version of Modula. However, you can follow the same steps that we are going to outline for you even if you are only using the free version.
The first thing you want to do is get a Pro license from Modula. When you do this, you will receive both the plugin and a license key.
Next you want to go Plugins > Add new in your WordPress dashboard. From there, look for Modula.
Then click on Install now and then activate.
Now that the free version of the plugin is on your website, it’s time to upload, install, and activate the Pro version of the plugin if you bought it.
Go to Plugins > Add new in your WordPress dashboard and upload it to your WordPress website.
Then click Install now and Activate plugin.
Now go to module > Settings in your WordPress dashboard to enter the license key.
click Activate license and then save Changes when you’re done.
Step 2: create a new photo gallery
Once both the free and premium versions of Modula are installed and activated on your website, it’s time to start building your first photo gallery. Go to module > Galleries in your WordPress dashboard and click Add new.
When you do, you will be taken to a new screen where you can upload your photos and adjust the gallery settings.
Step 3: Upload photos to your gallery
The first thing you want to do after creating your first photo gallery is to add a descriptive title to your gallery.
After you’ve titled your picture gallery, you’ll want to upload your pictures. You can upload images from an external source or select from your media library. When you upload your pictures to your photo gallery, they will appear in the gallery editor.
If you don’t like the look of the pictures, all you have to do is use the simple drag and drop interface to rearrange your pictures the way you want. Simply move the mouse pointer over the image and drag it to the desired location.
If you want to delete any of the uploaded images, hover over it and click the trash can icon. As simple as that!
Step 4: customize your gallery settings
Under the gallery editor, you’ll see that there are a number of settings you can configure to make your photo gallery truly unique. These settings are right in the editor and make customizing your gallery a breeze.
Here are some of the general settings you can configure:
- Gallery type (theme, grid, column, and slider)
- Gutter or picture spacing
- Width and height of the gallery
- Thumbnail size
- Randomization factors
- Maximum number of images
- Shuffle images each time the page loads
On the left you can also see all the optional extensions that come with the Pro version of Modula. To use any of these, just click the tab and adjust the settings.
Some of the extensions that you need to install and activate. This is great as you may not want all of the extensions to work on your site. Instead, you keep control of your resources and loading times.
Finally, you can sort your picture gallery manually or by creation date, modification date or title. If you’re feeling really adventurous, you can even have Modula sort your pictures randomly.
Step 5: Publish and paste your photo gallery
Once your gallery has been customized to your liking, the next step is to publish your gallery by clicking Save gallery. This will save all of your changes and generate the shortcode needed to add a photo gallery to your WordPress website.
There are two shortcode options to choose from:
- Insert your photo gallery in any WordPress post or site.
- Show your photo gallery to users by clicking a link or an image.
To add your photo gallery to your WordPress website, just cut out the shortcode and paste it where you want it to appear. If you want to use the Gutenberg block, you can also do so directly in a post or page.
To do this, click to add a new Gutenberg block, enter “Modula” in the field and select Module gallery. Then select the image gallery you want to view from the drop-down menu.
This will automatically show your image gallery in your post or on your page.
At the front of your website, your image gallery could look like this:
And there you have it! The easy-to-use and fully customizable Modula gallery plugin is now ready to add a photo gallery to your WordPress website.
Ultimately, being able to display high quality images on your WordPress website is one of the best ways to make a lasting impression and drive engagement. If you happen to start a photoblog and sell your photos online, you need a simple and feature-rich way to showcase what you offer your customers.
