Gyms are closed and many types of exercise are nowhere in sight, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop doing sports altogether.

There is also no shortage of online workouts that you can do from home. YouTube has a wide variety of free training videos for all abilities. Whether a 20-minute HIIT session at lunchtime is your thing or a pre-bed yoga routine is more your style, there are many options to choose from.

Eat healthy when you work from home

Endless takeaways seem like the easy option, and the temptation to order regularly is growing.

If you can, keep takeout to a minimum or cook your own healthy alternatives to your favorite classics.

Maintaining regular meals can also help. It’s very easy to mindlessly snacking from home – hands up if you’ve rubbed off a whole packet of cookies the day before!

Sticking to regular, nutritious meals prevents this, as you should feel full and satisfied longer after eating.

Don’t forget to drink water too. It’s very easy to find yourself on your fourth or fifth coffee without realizing it, but don’t forget that coffee actually dries out. Make sure you balance it with regular glasses of water. This is also a great way to keep you moving as you have to get up every hour to fill your glass.

Working from home can save you money and improve your financial health. For starters, you don’t have the expense of the commute or the appeal of after-work drinks!

However, there is a cost involved in working from home, and the cost can rise quickly if you’re not careful.

Electricity will be a major cost factor for many, now we are at home all the time. To keep your electricity bills low, turn off the power switches on the wall when you are not using them. If you find that you are not spending that much money – whether it is because you don’t commute or buy lunch every day – try not to keep it in your checking account. This only increases the temptation to spend it when the opportunity presents itself again.

Instead, consider opening a savings account. Outside of the website, the mind really works. Your money is protected and ready to spend when you really need it.

Stay sane while working from home

It is also very important to take regular breaks and move away from endless screens. Getting up quickly and stretching every hour will help prevent pain and give your mind a much-needed break.

Where you can, take a reasonable break in the day and get some fresh air. Getting out in daylight makes a huge difference if your work hours allow. Plan this into your day to avoid putting it off because it’s a little too cold or raining.

If you’re struggling with productivity or social media scrolling is too distracting, try planning in fun activities as rewards. This can be anything from taking a break to watching an episode of your favorite show after you’ve met a deadline or even a bubble bath.

It’s a good idea to mark the end of the working day as well. Avoid reading your e-mails late into the evening and doing anti-social work. Instead, turn off your laptop and store it away until the morning when you have finished the day.
